If you cannot find an answer to your question, feel free to email me at: dave@yourmindfulmassage.com
I've priced my services with gratuity included. I don’t want my clients going through mathematical gymnastics to calculate a tip when their mind and body are still absorbing a massage. I’m also happy to avoid the awkward moment when you’re wondering if you tipped me too much or not enough. I charge a premium price for a premium massage.
If you like my service, the best thing you can do is book a follow up appointment and refer your friends to me for massage as well.

Neither. 30-minute and 60-minute sessions typically aren’t long enough to allow your body the time it needs to do the healing work that comes more naturally with a longer period of relaxation. By the time your body enters a fully relaxed state, a 60-minute massage is basically over. If a shorter amount of time is all you can make available, please contact me so we can discuss how to best meet your needs.
Overall, I prefer to feel the body tell me when a massage is complete, rather than the clock.
Please arrange your schedule so that you aren’t rushed or stressed when you arrive, and your body can already start to relax. Avoid eating a heavy meal prior to getting a massage. You might eat something light a couple of hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
Please silence your mobile phone when you arrive. Clients under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be served.
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client undressed. However, what you choose to do in this regard is entirely up to you. I will use draping to keep private areas covered. The most important thing for you is that you’re comfortable. You can keep your underwear on or even remain fully clothed if you wish, but I don’t recommend it. Working directly on the muscle is by far the most effective option. So, you’ll want to undress as much as your comfort level allows.
For Thai massage, you’ll remain fully clothed. You’ll want to wear clothes that you can move in. Whatever you might wear to a yoga session will work well.
Good draping protects both the client and the therapist. If you have a specific draping request, I’m confident I can accommodate you. Of course, as a licensed practitioner, I follow the laws of the State of Utah.
Make yourself comfortable. If I wish to adjust your position, I will either move you or will ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Breathe deeply and allow yourself to receive. Give yourself permission to leave your worries at the door.
The important thing to remember is that this treatment is all about you relaxing and enjoying the experience. Most people close their eyes and remain generally silent during a session. Others prefer to talk. It's up to you. Many massage therapists say that talking can keep us in our heads rather than letting go and feeling into the body. It is for this reason that I recommend that the bulk of our verbal communication be done before and after the massage. Of course, if you have a question, preference, or concern, feel free to voice it at any time. If you’re too warm or too cold, if the light is too bright, if the pressure needs to change, or if something is simply not working for you, speak up! It is okay.
Not unless you want to. I have several different style playlists to offer. Or, you might choose to have no music at all. Let me know what you prefer and I’ll do my best to accommodate you.
Music plays a larger role in the massage experience than one might initially suspect. It can help us to relax and put aside the mental “movie” in our heads and intentionally replace it with the beauty of the present moment. If we let it, music can help us enter a meditative state faster than we might without it.
There are a few conditions which would prevent you from enjoying a massage. You should not book a massage if you have a fever, cold, flu, contagious skin infection, or significant sunburn.
There are many other conditions that may require me to adjust a technique or simply perform a more superficial massage, such as arthritis or osteoporosis. With some conditions, (such as cancer, certain heart conditions, and pregnancy), it is a good idea to get approval from your physician before you receive massage. This doesn't mean you can't get massage. But it is always better to err on the side of caution.
Table massage is my specialty. My style is a unique blend of Swedish and Sacred Lomi massage. Sacred Lomi was developed by Tom Cochran and Donna Jason and is rooted in the practice of “Temple Style” Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. Sacred Lomi is known for flowing, circular runs that nurture and embrace, clearing out the old patterns and awakening the divine in the physical being.
In addition to table massage, I also offer Thai Massage. Thai Massage is practiced on a floor mat. The receiver remains clothed, and no oil is used. For Thai Massage, it is important to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that is easy to move in. Many people say that Thai Massage is like yoga without the work. It is both relaxing and energizing.
All the massage I do is strictly therapeutic and non-sexual in nature.
Yes, but firm pressure isn’t my specialty. The kind of work I do doesn’t become deeper through pressure. I’ve found that slow and gentle work allows more of my clients to relax in a deeper way. If you prefer a therapist who is known for firm pressure, I’m happy to give you a referral.
Remember that massage therapy doesn’t need to hurt to be effective. Some of the most effective techniques involve intentional, gentle touch. Sometimes too much pressure can cause muscles to tighten and detract from the effectiveness of your treatment.
Yes. You receive the full amount of treatment time that you pay for. You are not charged for the intake and interview process, or the time it takes you to dress.
Drink plenty of water. Avoid strenuous work and heavy physical exercise for at least 24 hours following your appointment so your body can more fully absorb the massage.
Please communicate openly with me about your preferences and comfort. If anything needs to be adjusted, or if I am almost (but not quite) getting the right spot, just speak up and let me know.
This happens often during a massage and is nothing to be embarrassed about. Just take it as a sign you are enjoying the relaxation!
Of course! I don’t want you lying there uncomfortable and preoccupied. Please be assertive enough to make yourself comfortable.
If you are uncomfortable lying face down, or in any other position, please let me know. I have bolsters that are specifically designed to help you feel as comfortable as possible.
Yes, absolutely let me know if you do not want to be touched in a specific area or in a certain way. You don’t have to give me any details, and you have the right to ask to take a break or end your massage altogether at any time, for any reason.
I charge full price for any canceled treatment if you fail to give me notice at least 24 hours in advance.
No problem.
Please arrive on time for your appointment. Your time slot has been specially arranged for you. If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. I will do my best to provide you with the services you booked. But I cannot guarantee the full time if you arrive late. Full payment for your scheduled service will be expected.
Yes. Contact me about special pricing for mobile massage.
